Nicole & Chris | San Jose Wedding | Boulder Ridge Golf Club

Nicole and Chris were married at the Golf Club at Boulder Ridge in San Jose last spring and I’m so happy to finally have some time to sit down and write about their wedding day.

These two are amazing people and I was just so honored to be able to work with them.  Nicole was one of the most organized brides I’ve ever seen!  She took so much care in every step of the planning process… from selecting vendors (and she put together an AWESOME team!), to making sure all of their out-of-town guests had everything they needed, to putting together beautiful modern ceremony and reception details.  Chris was very involved as well and together they just created a gorgeous, fun and meaningful day.

Here are a few of the details from their wedding that I’m just crazy about:

  • Nicole is from the East Coast and met Chris in New York City, so I loved that she brought a little bit of the city to their day with the NYC map ring pillow that she found on Etsy and the ring shots with that day’s copy of the New York Times.
  • Their ceremony, officiated by Irene Kane of Ceremonies & Celebrations, had the sweetest ring warming. It was an intimate group already, but passing the ring around for everyone to add their blessings was such a personal way for all of their loved ones to participate in the ceremony.
  • Probably my most favorite detail of all was the ice cream truck that they brought in for a surprise after-dinner treat for their guests. And I’m not talking just any ice cream truck…it was TreatBot, which is an ice cream truck AND a mobile karaoke machine. It was so fun and just so them! I didn’t try any, but heard that the Ube Purple Yam flavor was pretty incredible!
  • And there was just so much more! I can’t leave out the view and the fantastic team from Boulder Ridge and the gorgeous bright jewel-tone florals by Huckleberry Karen Designs that decorated the day!

These photos from Tom Vo Photography totally bring back great memories from Nicole and Chris’ wedding. Hope you enjoy!

Introducing Baby Jameson!

“You were born with potential

You were born with goodness and trust

You were born with ideals and dreams

You were born with greatness

You were born with wings

You are not meant for crawling, so don’t

You have wings

Learn to use them and fly.”

~ Rumi

At 7:32am on Wednesday, November 28, we welcomed Jameson Walter Meinhardt into our little family!  He arrived at a hearty 9 pounds 15.1 ounces and 21.5 inches, which means that all the newborn sized clothes we had for him didn’t even stand a chance!  Although we’re a little blurry-eyed from lack of sleep, the whole family is adjusting well and ever so happy that he’s here!

I have a few blog posts planned in the next few weeks, but will otherwise be back to work full-time on January 1.  I’m still checking emails though, so feel free to email me at kristy@kristymeinhardtweddings.com if you need anything.

Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving centerpieces

Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving and start of the holiday season!  It’s early in the morning on Thanksgiving Day and, as I write this, I’m still pregnant.  I’m pretty tired, but extremely grateful to have my husband at home and my in-laws in town.  They’ve all been a huge help!  I’m also thankful that I had the time and energy this week to do our grocery shopping for today’s meal, plan out our table, put together a cute pumpkin centerpiece (that’s it pictured above) and even bake a few pies.  All things I love about this time of year!  (Side note: I pinned a great recipe on Pinterest from A Beautiful Mess for a brownie pecan pie and I can’t WAIT to taste it!  I’ll let you know if it’s good, but really…how could it not be?!)

After David and I got married, Thanksgiving quickly became “our” holiday in the Meinhardt home.  He’s a fire fighter and works his fair share of holidays, but we try to take vacation around Thanksgiving every year to visit our family since they all live out of town and start some family traditions of our own.  I thought I’d share one tradition that I started a few years ago…our “I am thankful for” cards.

Happy Anniversary Neal & Lynn!

I’m a day and a half late on this one, but I couldn’t go without wishing Neal and Lynn a very happy one-year anniversary!  Last year, on 11-11-11, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony on the patio at Hotel De Anza in downtown San Jose, with an elegant dinner reception following at Paolo’s Restaurant, and I was honored that they let me help in the planning.

DIY Painted Bottle Centerpieces

If you ever visit my home, you will probably notice that I almost always have fresh cut flowers around the house.  I try to shop our local farmer’s market every week, but if I’m short on time, I will pick up a bunch at the store or even just cut a few blooms from our yard to put in a bud vase.  Anything to have fresh flowers in the house.  So, when I saw this pin for DIY bottle centerpieces, I knew this was something I needed to try.

Weekend Crafting Inspiration: Yarn Wrapped Bottles

I’ve missed a few weeks of my Weekend Crafting Inspiration (sorry about that), but I’m hopefully making it up to you with this super easy, super fun craft idea!  I found this tutorial for yarn wrapped bottles on Wedding Chicks.  I decided it was a must-do because 1) the bottles are too cute, 2) I can always use a few more bud vases and 3) I go through a yarn-buying phase, where I think I have time to pick up knitting again, at least once a year.  So…I have yarn coming out of my ears!

Weekend Crafting Inspiration: Rope Monograms or Words

The weekend is here (hooray!) so it’s time for some more weekend crafting inspiration.  I found this project almost a year ago on Green Wedding Shoes (see original post here).  As with last week’s project on paper baskets, this one is also versatile and can apply to weddings and events, or just to every day life.  You’ll notice that I modified the original tutorial somewhat by making a monogram instead of rope words.  I did this mostly because I love monograms, especially for weddings.  I feel like they’re a symbol of the family that you’re building and they fit perfectly in your home after the wedding is over.

A Much-Needed Update

Well here I am, finally checking in with my blog…a few whole MONTHS since the debut of my new website and my last post.  I sort of feel like I’m in trouble at school and I need to explain myself, so here goes.

Earlier this year, shortly after I began the process of designing my website with the great guys at 2BlokesDesign, I discovered that I was pregnant with my second child.  It wasn’t a total surprise, as my husband and I really want another child and this was most definitely planned.  Yet this pregnancy has almost completely turned my life upside down.  Come to find out, I was pretty darn functional when I was pregnant the first time.   I worked the entire pregnancy and actually did SEVEN weddings at Elliston during my eighth month.  (And they were great weddings, big belly and all!)  This pregnancy, however, has been the complete opposite of functional.  I’ve been sick, exhausted and otherwise a big hot mess from the very beginning.  I just passed the six-month mark and all the while, my biggest full-time job is still as a stay-at-home mom to a rather active two-and-a-half-year-old.

So, to make a long story even longer, we finished the website in May and since then I’ve been forced to slow down a bit.  Many of the things I was working on to establish my new business have been moved to the back burner so I can take care of myself, my family and this new addition we’re bringing into the world.  And at the end of the day, I have to stay grateful for that.  That’s why I included the quote above.  Some days, the only thing I accomplish is taking my daughter to the park to play.  And while that task seems so little, it really isn’t.  She’s growing so much every day and before I know it, we won’t have whole days together because she’ll be in pre-school, then elementary school, junior high, high school and then off to college.  The little things have really become the big things, I guess.

Having said all this, I have been working still and I wanted to give a quick update.

~     Last month, I attended an intense 3-day business workshop in Southern California called Fight Club (I know, maybe not wise for a pregnant woman to participate in something labeled Fight Club!).  But it was so completely worth it!  The workshop was put on Jeff Jochum and his company TeamX.Biz, as well as Showit, the platform and service I use for my website. Jeff’s program is really geared toward photographers, but he and the others in the group were gracious enough to let me sit in.  I really cannot even come up with words to describe how great and beneficial this was for me!  I learned so much from him about why I want to do weddings and I’ve already made a few small changes to my website, with many more ideas on the horizon.  If you’re a wedding professional, especially a photographer, I HIGHLY suggest looking into Jeff’s workshops and coaching services.  Oh, and did I mention the entire 3 days were taped, broadcast live online and watched by hundreds of people?  Definitely a lesson on stepping outside of your comfort zone to better yourself and your business!

~     I recently turned 39 and decided to spend the last year of my thirties doing a 365 Days of Gratitude project, posting a picture every day of something I’m grateful for on both Instagram and my personal profile on Facebook.  Feel free to follow my journey at @kmeinhardt.

~     Nesting has already set in, so I’m DIY-ing like a crazy woman!  I’ve got many projects that I’ve either completed or I’m in the process of completing so I decided to feature one on the blog every Friday, beginning this week.  Figured we could all use a little weekend crafting inspiration!  And I’m still obsessed with Pinterest…follow me here if you are too!

Everything happens at the right time.  I’m grateful for all the blessings in my life and while my business has taken somewhat of a back seat, inside I’m raring to go.  Any last minute weddings for this year are unfortunately out of the question, as I’m a stickler about making sure that I can be completely available and present for the couples I work with and that just isn’t possible right now.  That has been a tough pill to swallow, but necessary to accept.  2013 will be a different story, both personally and professionally, and I can’t wait!

How Pinterest Inspires Me

I don’t know what the folks over in the Pinterest promotions department are doing, but whatever it is…it’s working!  It seems that the site has exploded just in the last month and having mentioned that I’m a Pinterest addict on FaceBook multiple times, I have received many questions from family and friends over the past few weeks.  What is it?  Why should I join?  How do I join?  I requested an invite, but I haven’t heard back.  Etc, etc.

Wedding Card & Keepsake Boxes

Before I get into today’s post, I want to share a few exciting things that I’ve been working on.  First, I finally got off my bootie and finished a FaceBook page for KMW!  You can now become a fan of Kristy Meinhardt Weddings (and I hope that you will!) by clicking HERE!

In other exciting news, I started 2012 off with a bang professionally by meeting one of my mentors and inspirations, Preston Bailey, at a book signing during the Wedding Faire Santa Clara.  Unfortunately, I could not attend any of the workshops for professionals that weekend so I did not hear Preston speak, but he did sign my copy of his latest book Flowers and I got this lovely picture to mark the occasion!  This is me, in total awe…
